Minneapolis and COVID-19

On March 6th, 2020 the first positive covid test was confirmed in Minnesota. Governor Tim Walz announced a temporary closure of all schools in the state and on April 8th a “Stay at Home” order was announced. These photos are from the early days of the pandemic and the closures.

During what was a relatively mild spring, I set out on my bike to photograph the empty streets and closed storefronts. The stay at home order was ultimately extended again until May 3rd.
